Description

BADGER Dynasonics® TFX Ultra®

CLAMP-ON ULTRASONIC METER

TFX Ultra® ultrasonic flow and energy meters clamp onto the outside of pipes and do not contact the internal liquid. The technology has inherent advantages over alternate devices including:low-cost installation, no pressure head loss, no moving parts to maintain or replace, no fluid compatibility issue, and a large, bi-directional measuring range that ensures reliable readings even at very low and high flow rates.

TFX Ultra® is available in a variety of configurations that permit the user to select a meter with features suitable to meet particular application requirements.

The TFX Ultra® is available in two versions: a stand-alone flow meter, and an energy flow meter used in conjunction with dual clamp-on RTDs. The energy flow meter measures energy usage in BTU, MBTU, MMBTU, Tons, kJ, kW, MW and is ideal for retrofit, chilled water and other HVAC applications.

Medium:
Water, Lubricant oil
max. flow:
from 3.18 up to 5260284 l/min
Temperature:
from -40 up to 176 °C
Branch:
Water & waste water industry, Chemical industry, Pharmaceutical industry, Food & beverage industry, General industry, Oil industry, Aerospace industry, Automotive industry

Measuring principle

Heat meters

The heat meters use the highly precise ultrasonic transit time measuring principle, for which two ultrasonic sensors are externally mounted on the pipeline and connected to the electronic. The ultrasonic sensors work alternately as transmitter and receiver, and mutually send ultrasonic signals. During these transmissions, the respective signal transit times of the to-and-from signals (t1, t2) are measured.

The electronic measures the difference of the transit time of the ultrasonic signals going with and against the flow direction t1 and t2. These signals are either decelerated or accelerated by the medium flow. The difference produced in both signal transit times is proportional to the flow rate and is used together with the pipeline geometry for a precise flow calculation.
